07.12.2009 Affecto provides Metla with information management solution Finnish Forest Research Institute (Metla) has selected Affecto as the provider of its document and content management system. Metla is a government research institute with a pool of over 10 million files. With the new system, these documents and the register of in-progress matters are available to the whole Metla personnel easily and efficiently in an electronic format. Thanks to the new system, Metla's document management covers the entire country, and processing information between teams becomes easier. "The renewal raises Metla's managements of documents and matters for the authorities to a new level. Now we reach the level where all government organisations should be," says Project Manager Seppo Jokinen from Metla. "Comprehensive management of files and different content in them will enhance Metla's operating processes, and in knowledge management we move on from individual knowledge to organisational knowledge," he continues. The system answers to the different challenges of document management and use in Metla; one of the biggest challenges is the transfer of know-how as a large proportion of the personnel reaches pensionable age. In its call for tenders, Metla had described the desired software at length and defined almost 300 specific demands for the solution. The software and implementation project tendered by Affecto met all these demands. In the future, approximately 800 Metla employees will have an easy-to-use, versatile and high-quality system available to them. In the delivery, Affecto is in charge of the implementation project and software, which will take care of the registration of matters handled by the organisation as well as the electronic management of documents related to them and of all other Metla documents. The solution is based on Open Text and Affecto products. Affecto has over 10 years of experience of document management systems, and it has several references from the government of similar systems that meet government standards. "We already have several references in the field, and the deal made with Metla will further strengthen our position as a provider of electronic document and content management systems," says Ray Byman, Affecto Finland's Country Manager.
