The biggest thing that gets me is excited is our customers – it all starts from them! I enjoy seeing how Digitalization, Internet of Things and Industrial Internet bring new business opportunities to Finnish companies. In some customer cases we are speaking of doing the same with better quality, more safely or with smaller costs. In the most awesome cases we are trying out something totally new together or even helping our customers to change the way they do their business. It is challenging and rewarding in the same time.
It is not easy to describe my colleagues by putting them all in the same mold – and I like it that way. In general I could say that all of my colleagues are dedicated professionals, but of course everything else varies – people have different background, knowledge, skills, areas of interests and character. That is a huge potential both for personal development and also for customer projects.
What it comes to new technologies and ways of working, Internet of Things is a new business frontier to work at, so most companies are still trying to find ways to make best use of it. I have found lean startup thinking, agile approach and fast prototyping really good ways to get started. Figuring out how we can bring value to end customers, testing the hypothesis fast and with small risk is a great way of getting started. From technical side there are many buzz words which really come in use with IoT cases: cloud, big data, data science, advanced analytics, etc. Technical side is also developing really fast – what was not affordable to implement yesterday could be it tomorrow.
I joined Affecto some 5 years ago. Before that, I had been working on startups and small companies and was a bit worried whether Affecto would ever feel like a right place for me. Now, 5 years later, I am still coming to work with a smile on my face. Still, I miss having a bunch of new colleagues – so I encourage you to give it a try and come to work at Affecto!
